There is nothing better than
a satisfied customer. One who asked for a product and you delivered 150%. They
keep coming back and what’s more they even refer their friends to you. But how
do you satisfy a customer?.... Product knowledge is the answer! And the only way
you can obtain product knowledge is by seeing, feeling, touching, smelling,
hearing and finally tasting. With this in mind, we embarked on a
familiarization trip (aka Fam Trip) to gain firsthand knowledge about these
properties that tourists from all over the world come to visit. So we set off
for the Lake Area, no not Kisumu but Naivasha, Elementaita, Nakuru, Bogoria and
Baringo..... The ornithological paradise.
Naivasha:
Lake Naivasha is a fresh
water lake situated west of Nairobi. It can be accessed both by road and air.
By road, you can go through the Mai Mahiu road or the Nairobi-Naivasha highway.
If flying, there are scheduled flights from Wilson Airport Nairobi to Loldia
Airstrip. Naivasha is not too far away from Nairobi and is very convenient if
you are looking for a short getaway. If you are looking for privacy and
exclusivity you can try: Chui, Kongoni, Kiangazi, Olerai Lodges are excellent
choices.
If basic camping tickles your
fancy: Crayfish, Fisherman’s, Carnellys camps would be ideal.
For conferencing away from
the hustle, bustle and congestion of Nairobi, Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge, Lake
Naivasha Sopa Lodge, Enashipai Resort, Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort
are exceptional choices.
Lake Naivasha area is home to
Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary where over 45 different species of mammals and
endangered species have been relocated to ensure their survival.
Naivasha is also home to the
late Joy and George Adamson renowned conservationists. A museum with a wealth
of history on the Adamson documenting their lives has been opened at Elsamere.
Lake Elementaita:
Lake Elementaita is a salty
water lake situated between lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru. Another popular
attraction in the Lake Elementaita region is Sleeping Warrior Hill that actually
resembles a maasai warrior sleeping on his back. There are amazing properties here
for accommodation in the Soysamabu Conservancy and within close proximity to
the park. For luxury camp lovers there are Lake Elementaita Serena and Flamingo
Hill Camps. If you are looking for a private getaway, Sleeping Warrior Lodge is
an excellent choice. Most of the lodges are right by the lake. Accommodations you
can find in this area include: Pelican Lodge, Sunbird Lodge (built on a cliff
top), Elementaita Country Lodge, Jacaranda Elementaita Lodge, Lake Nakuru
Lodge, Sarova Lion Hill, Mbweha Camp.
Lake Baringo:
Getting to Baringo was not
the most comfortable ride. The road has been damaged by the heavy rains and the
bridges washed away. However the bumpy ride was worth it. We got to cross over
to Island camp by boat over water that has crocodiles and hippos. The weather
down at Baringo is very hot even during the rainy season. So, Dress light. Accommodation
at Baringo includes: Lake Baringo Club, Robert’s Camp, Soi Safari Lodge and Samatian.
We came back with a wealth of
information just so we can give our clients the experience they are looking
for. Wildlife and bird life are abundant tin these areas and whats more is that
they are not too far from Nairobi. You could literally head out over the
weekend and be back fresh and revitalized at your desk on Monday morning!!
